Both these styles are very similar, with the difference being on where the waistline of the dress is designed and placed. Typically, an A-line style wedding dress has the waistline of the dress created at around the hips, and for an empire dress, the waistline is higher above the hips, usually just underneath the bust line. An A-line wedding dress is extremely feminine: the silhouette flatters the waist and the hips gives the woman the perfect look and shape. An A-line wedding dress can be narrow and flattering, or can be designed with a wider full-skirt to create a more dramatic look similar too a ball-gown but with less volume of fabric. -

A ball gown style wedding dress is characterized by a tight bodice and a full skirt, and often made from tulle, satin or silk or Mikado. In addition, the skirt may be embellished with small details such as flowers, lace pearls and diamonté beading. A ball gown dress combines a number of different materials, which means the wedding dress always has a luxurious appeal. -

Each of these three styles are very similar to each other with one very important exception, the shape of the bottom of the dress, specifically, the shape of the skirt. Typically, these dresses are designed with an elegant bodice above the waist, which then flows down to a tight fitting skirt. How long the skirt remains “tight-fitting” is actually the difference. For a “Fit & Flare” the skirt starts to widen just below the buttocks. For a “Mermaid” style the skirt starts to widen just above the knee. And for a “trumpet” style, the skirt starts to widen below the knee or lower. Each of these styles represent a look that is unquestionably a dramatic, elegant and sophisticated. -

While the term might sound a little odd, but a Sheath style or “sheath overlay style wedding dress means that there is a decorative layer over form fitting dress, usually from the bodice and down to the hemline. It makes a typically straight dress (often empire or narrow style dress) look incredibly soft and more feminine because of the soft flowing layer over the top of the main dress. -
Short skirt & Tea-Length
Don’t want to be a standard bride, or are you getting married in the height of summer? Then you can choose to wear a short-skirt or tea-length style wedding dress. These styles are equally as elegant and romantic as a long skirt style wedding dress. A short wedding dress also gives you lots of freedom of movement which means you can literally dance the night away!
